OOTD #6: the beauty of burgundy

Black and red used to be my two absolute favourite colours, back when I was an eleven year old emo. Nowadays, I still like 'em but only wear them ever so often. Today I felt like wearing my childhood colours again, so I put together this outfit with some of my favourite thrifted items.

As I’ve mentioned a few posts back, I went on a trip to Rotterdam last year and discovered a secondhand shop called Episode there. This short-sleeved, burgundy turtle neck is one of the pieces I picked up there. The material isn't very thick, which makes it the perfect little sweater to wear in fall.

The jacket I’m wearing is from a little shop in Berlin. Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure if it’s ethically made, because I bought it before I looked into the working conditions at clothing factories. Since I love it so much and the damage has already been done, I decided to keep it and wear it until it falls apart. I wouldn’t normally wear Burgundy on burgundy, but I think it works really well in this outfit, since the materials of both pieces are completely different and the colour also differs slightly. The jacket's colour is a lot fuller than that of the sweater, and in my opinion, the most beautiful colour out there. Combine that with the fact that this jacket is made out of a gorgeously smooth velvet material, and there it is: the jacket of my dreams!

Today, I decided to pair it with a pair of jeans I found in Think Twice a few months ago. I already owned a pair of black, high-waisted pants, but those were more the skinny fit-type of jeans, and I wanted something more mom-like. So I found these. I like how the black isn’t really pitch dark, but more washed-off, and how the pockets on the front and the back or detailed.

Now, for the shoes: these shiny black Dr. Martens are such a dream. They're originally from my girlfriend (surprise), so I was very happy when she told me she doesn't wear them anymore because they hurt her feet. It sucks (excuse the language) that you can't find these types of shoes easily in second hand stores, because they are a great choice with practically any outfit, casual and fancy. Plus, they just look really cool.
My mom gave me the socks as a little present and I honestly just wear these with this outfit, since I truly believe socks can make or break an outfit. And these just fit the colours of my jeans and sweater perfectly.
How much for everything?
Sweater: 15 euros
Jacket: 40 euros
Pants: 10 euros
Shoes: 0 euros
Socks: 0 euros
Total spent: 65 euros (the most expensive outfit on this blog yet)
