DATE NIGHT: blue velvet

I present to you: the first date (whether that is with your significant other, your cat or your mom) night approved outfit on this blog. I thought it would be interesting to show you what second hand shopping has to offer when it comes to these types of night, or whenever you feel like dressing up so I'll do these at least monthly.

Velvet has to be the most romantic fabric on this planet, right? So naturally I chose this number to wear for a special occasion. This dress is what (my) dreams are made of: an off-the-shoulder silhouette that accentuates your collarbones, a gorgeous deep starry blue, and a tiny slit in the side to make things a little more interesting. I found this gem in Rotterdam, snatched it off the hook as soon as I saw it and made sure nobody else in that Episode store could come near to it ever again. If you know me, you know I pretty much worship everything velvet, but weirdly enough this is only the second velvet dress I own. But it has quickly become my favourite, since it's more tight-fitting and stunning in all its simplicity.

I've actually only worn this dress once or twice, because it, even though it's nothing over the top, doesn't really scream "CASUAL" to me. I'll try to find a way to dress it down a bit, maybe by adding a thicker pair of stockings and throwing on my Dr. Martens because it's a shame to keep such a beautiful item locked up on the closet. But for now, I wanted to feel fancy, so I put on the boots I talked about a few posts back. Now, let me begin by saying I'm sorry if you read that one and got all curious about those out of the world, very exciting, very chique black boots I was talking about, because you might be disappointed. But let me explain. Black shoes are a staple to have, right?

Add on the fact that these are boots (always better, let's be real), that they're simple (= they go with pretty much everything), and have a pointy, squared toe (if that makes sense), which makes them extra fun. Although I paired these with the dress I'm wearing today, I normally prefer wearing them with flared and slightly cropped trousers because it just looks so funky.

To top it all off, I decided to wear these hoops I got from a little market in Antwerp. They're real silver, hence the price (but all in all, 14 euros is still a great deal for real silver), and not heavy at all since they're hollow on the inside. Heavy earrings bother me so much, so these are perfect to spice up an outfit.
How much for everything? Dress: 20 euros
Boots: 0 euros (I got 'em from my momma)
Earrings: 14 euros
Total spent: 34 euros
