OOTD #9: housewife from the sixties

I'm feeling funky today (and I mean that in a good way), so I decided to throw on a colourful dress, my go to black boots and favourite earrings to honour and capture that feeling.

Let's start with telling you about the dress I'm wearing. A few weeks before their new collection arrives, Think Twice offers all kinds of discounts on their stuff. They start with 30% off if I'm not mistaken and end with everything for 1 euro. I went on a Saturday when everything was priced 3 euros and I found quite some great pieces. I ended up going home with three items, this dress being one of them. It's this gorgeous deep yellow velvet material, it has a turtle neck and it just feels so soft when I put it on. At first I wasn't quite sure about it and my friend told me I looked like a housewife from the 60's but I then decided I liked that idea and went for it. It's not the best dress to wear during the winter months, but I like to put a turtle neck under it for some warmth.
Sometimes I wear this as a sweater since my pants are always a bit too big around my waist which makes it easy to tuck it in. The dress does have the tendency to creep up to my belly when I'm wearing this with something over it over it, but luckily my coat is long enough to cover me up and keep it decent.

Speaking of my coat: I found this one about a year ago in the Episode store in Antwerp. I was looking for a new winter coat because the one I had earlier was too tight around my arms and shoulders when wearing a chuncky sweater. It's quite long, which I love, and it has a very flattering silhouette, thanks to the narrow waist. This kind of green is also one of my favourite colours and goes with pretty much everything in my wardrobe, so naturally I had to buy it.
I'm wearing my favourite black boots with this outfit, which I told you all about in my last post (click here if you want to learn more).

The earrings are the ones my mom was wearing when she married my dad, so they're something a little more special. Nowadays, she doesn't wear earrings anymore so she gave them to me. They're quite heavy but I love the shape and how vintage they look. They also look, at least to me, as if they come straight out of the pre-Columbian era. I forgot (or was probably just too lazy) to take out my silver earring right next to it when taking these pictures, so please just ignore how cramped it looks. Normally I would just pair this with the gold ones you see in this picture, which were given to me by a friend.
How much for everything?
Dress: 3 euros
Coat: 40 euros
Boots: 0 euros (old ones from my mom)
Earrings: 0 euros (present/from my mom)
Total spent: 43 euros
